William B. McGuire is a
founding partner of Tompkins, McGuire, having
formed the Firm over twenty years ago when he
left Lum, Biunno & Tompkins, then the State’s
oldest firm to found the Firm. Bill practices
in the areas of complex insurance coverage, professional liability defense, directors and officers lawsuits, class actions, securities law, financial institutions
and general commercial litigation. Bill also represents
attorneys and judges in disciplinary matters.
Further, Bill is often called upon to act as arbitrator
or mediator in complex litigated matters. Over
the years, Bill has represented insurance carriers
or their insureds in some of the largest complex
environmental coverage lawsuits in the State.
Bill has also devoted substantial time and energy
furthering the law profession through his service
at the county, state and federal bar levels. Bill’s
service culminated in his appointment and service
as the President of the New Jersey State Bar Association
during the 1994-1995 term.
